A Single Girl’s Guide to Valentine’s Day

Valentines Day

Has cupid left you out in the cold this year? Is Mr. Right not going to show up on your doorstep with a dozen roses and whisk you away to a romantic dinner for two? Are you dare I say….SINGLE! Gasp!

I’m in the same boat as you my warrior friend, but this year I got a plan or shall I say a guide to having a fantastic and memorable date with yourself or with your gal pals. Follow these steps and you will feel like the beautiful princess you are (even if you don’t have a date to the ball).

Step One: Prepare For the Big Day

Don’t treat this like any other day, you have to make it special. This requires a bit of an effort. Your goal is to to create a romantic ambiance that is outside your normal daily routine.

Most importantly, treat yourself to a bouquet of fresh flowers. Flowers are a great way to honor your femininity.

Make sure you have plenty of candles on hand to distribute around your living space. Think “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri…well maybe not that many candles!

Don’t forget the music as well. You can check out our “Love Songs” playlist on Spotify for some inspiration.

You may be thinking that this is silly and a waste of your money. Think again! Pulling together $20 to decorate your surroundings is worth the investment. You are worth every penny!

Step Two: Make a Schedule

If you really want to feel special, pretend as though you are actually putting together a date. I’m sure if this date was for Mr. Handsome you would be paying attention to all the specifics. After all, being detail-oriented is one of your strengths 🙂

Things to consider when planning your date are: How is the night going to flow? When will it start? What am I going to do?

Your options are endless so it is up to you to figure out how you want to make this day special.

Here are some ideas to point you in the right direction:

• A DIY spa treatment – manicure, pedicure and a facial. Look to Pinterest for ideas.
• Make an art project- a collage, paint a heart shaped box, etc.
• Create a vision board
• Write a love story
• Curl up on the couch with a book or a movie that will make you feel good

Step Three: Have Fun

Now is the time for your date! If you have followed the guide thus far you will have a warm and welcoming home and a fun activity waiting for you. You may have even taken a little extra time to get ready and experiment with a new hairstyle, makeup look or outfit.

If you invited friends over to join in, make sure to not focus on the fact that you are single and get carried away with the “are we ever going to find someone that love us” blabber. This is a sure fire way to ruin your date. Focus on how awesome you are. How many redeeming qualities you have as a person and the great things you have to offer in a relationship.

Don’t let your mind turn “being single” into “being unlovable and undesirable”.

Be compassionate with yourself. You do not need to wait for a man to come into your life to make you feel special!

Happy Valentine’s Day Beautiful!
