As a Registered Psychotherapist/Human Being and author of BINGE CRAZY: A Psychotherapist's Memoir of Food Addiction, Mental Illness, Obesity and Recovery (Arrow, 2015), I see seeking help as a strength - a road traveled by those with the courage and wisdom to reach for their own truths. My practice, based in Gestalt therapy - a holistic, here and now approach encompassing the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of your life - also includes other modalities to find what works best for you - from the creative use of art, writing, drama, music, and dreams, to more structured methods (CBT, DBT). In Gestalt, you are the expert (on you) and I am the guide to help you explore what needs healing. I specialize in binge-eating, compulsive overeating, food addiction, emotional eating and other disordered eating issues. The mental preoccupation with food, eating, weight, body-image and control - and the emotional damage from the frustrations and disappointments along the way - can get worse over time if left unchecked. From my training and lived experience, learning to accept and honor the required journey can be challenging and exciting.
