Connecting with your inner goddess is all about finding peace and energy within your true self. It’s a state of being in which your body, mind and soul find themselves in perfect harmony and make you feel grounded. When you find yourself at peace you’ll be able to reconnect with your energy sources that guide you through every aspect of life and steer you towards your life’s purpose. Eating disorders mess up this balance and distract you from being your true self. This ultimately results in self-loathing, guilt and shame.
When you are not trusting your own feelings or listening to your emotions, your authentic self is masked. Your dreams, personality, passions and creativity are buried. Denying your own emotions lead to them manifesting in the obsession with your body, weight, food, calories and exercise. I remember my eating disorder became my only coping mechanism to deal with my life and myself. I found myself desperately looking for external solutions that could fill up the emptiness inside.
In recovery I learned how to tune in and become aware of my own senses, experiences, feelings and emotions. At some point I felt at ease with myself. This enabled me to accept and walk away from the darkness of my past. It allowed me to feel alive and feminine again, ready to chase and live my dream.
Connecting with your inner strength makes you feel powerful and provide you with the courage and motivation needed to reclaim your unique self and connect with your inner goddess. How? By allowing yourself to take time and be open to all that’s inside, all that is masked by the ugly lies of your eating disorder. To practice to connect with your true self I share a beautiful poem written by one of contributors Julie Norman, an amazing nutrition counselor, yoga teacher and body image guru helping women to find back peace and empowerment.
All Knowing
Look up to the moon
Look into your heart
The wisdom is one in the same
Soul seeds will grow
In Luna’s glow
By believing and being brave
Trust in You
The thing to do
To set the caged bird free
She’ll fly to the clouds
Dance around
Then return to the sacred body
Here she lives the dream
