Recovery Warriors is seeking a Junior Social Media Manager to join our expanding team!

This is an entry-level, part-time, and remote position. Its primary goal is to grow the reach of Recovery Warriors brand, social platforms, and community with a special focus on promoting our podcasts (The Recovery Warrior Show, Equipped to Recover, and Follow Your Bliss) and editorial content.

Responsibilities include: content creation, distribution, calendar management, and community engagement across major social media platforms (mainly Instagram and TikTok with occasional reposting on FB/Twitter). Additionally the Junior Social Media Manager will be responsible for regular reporting on performance, and helping advise on social media strategy to achieve team goals, engagement, and conversion.

Our ideal candidate has a personal history of recovery or deep knowledge of the eating disorder field and understands all the stages of the journey.

We’re looking for someone who has a strong understanding of visual storytelling, tactfully finding humor in the recovery process, and a creative interest in taking podcast shows and written content and translating it into compelling social media friendly formats. You love social listening and finding new ways to engage with our vibrant community of warriors. You will bring an entrepreneurial approach to the role, adaptable personality, and ability to work independently most of the time. A commitment to continuously learning, improving, and refining your skills is a part of who you are.

This is an entry-level, part-time, freelance position that reports directly to our Director of Marketing, while also working closely with other key members of the team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Our Junior Social Media Manager will primarily be responsible for:

  • Content Creation: Create, schedule, and distribute social media content for IG, IG Stories, and TikTok (formats include Reels, graphics, GIFS, text, etc). Curate/repurpose engaging content that establishes our presence as an authority (relevant press, scientific research studies, and user generated content for repackaging and distribution on Recovery Warriors’ social channels).
  • Video Editing: Creating and editing short-form video content mainly targeted at Instagram Reels & TikTok. This will involve working closely and collaborating with our YouTube Channel Manager and the rest of the team to create compelling content with a major focus on engagement and audience retention.
  • Community Management: Owning community engagement and responding to customers who voice their complaints and praise on social media channels. You’ll do this by posting engaging content, soliciting relationship, initiating discussion, monitoring comments, answering questions, being highly responsive, and elevating any concerns or arising themes to our customer experience team.
  • Branding and Design: Acting as the brand voice for Recovery Warriors across all social media platforms. Support management of social media assets including style guides, logos, templates, etc.
  • Social Media Growth: Developing strategies to grow our social media platforms both in engagement (comments, dialogue, sharing) and the numeric value (number of followers, friends). Make Recovery Warriors Go Viral!
  • Marketing: Help support our event and product launches on the social front. You’ll do this by designing and executing results-driven, lead-generating, and high-converting social media campaigns that align with our launch goals.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyze social performance (on platform engagement/impressions and down funnel conversion metrics), and utilize performance data to advise team on strategic decisions to meet company goals.
  • Diversity: Curate voices and stories that promote diversity and inclusion.
  • PR: Assist with the execution of the company’s public relations, social media and media relations initiatives.
  • Research: Research and stay up to speed on new social media marketing strategies and how we can use them to add value to our audience of warriors.

Skills & Abilities:

You are a strong fit for this position if you:

  • Have 1-3+ years of experience in social media management/production for a brand or media publication.
  • Live and breathe social media and visual story telling and have experience creating original visually engaging content for social platforms (formats include Reels, short form video, graphics, memes, etc)
  • Are masterful at tapping into the unique voice of our brand and have a sense of humor. We love all things meme and recovery humor.
  • Have strong understanding of the digital ecosystem and understanding of all the ins and outs of Instagram and TikTok. Experience with YouTube and Pinterest is also a plus.
  • Have excellent copywriting skills. You have the ability to genuinely connect with people online through your writing, prioritizing impeccable grammar, wit, and digestibility. Writing experience is a plus.
  • Have a knack for identifying trends before they become trends and pride yourself in implementing quickly to be first to market with your new ideas.
  • Are constantly paying attention to what is working for leading brands and can visualize how it can apply to your brand.

  • Experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis on Photoshop and Illustrator.

This job is NOT for you if you:

  • Are unable to work remotely and independently.
  • Do not want to push yourself to learn new skills and softwares.

What We Do

In everything we do, we aim to shine light into the darkness of living with an eating disorder. We believe it’s possible to break free from the past and rise to one’s fullest potential and soul calling.

Through our 10 years of serving the eating disorder community, we’ve found one of the most important parts of the recovery process is discovering who you are without the eating disorder and learning lifelong skills to cope with the underlying trauma, anxiety, and depression.

For this reason, our company has two distinct branches:

Recovery Warriors provides media and mobile app resources for people in recovery from an eating disorder and has served well over 3M warriors in 184 countries.

True Warrior brings people together to accelerate healing, spiritual awakening, and personal transformation.

Our Core Values

Our team is courageous (we embrace vulnerability), big-hearted (we deeply care about the well-being and success of our community) and fun-loving (always down to find laughter in the moment, even when things are tough).

Become who you were meant to be

We believe when you have the courage to follow your heart’s desire and intuitive guidance you’ll find your authentic path. From here, your unique gifts and purpose come alive and bless the world around you.

Dreams don’t work unless you do

First we dream, then we get down to business making it happen. No matter what problems we face in the creative process, we have an indomitable will to figure them out.

Growth happens in phases and cycles

The personal growth journey is eternal and is enriched by our self-awareness and compassion. We see every ending as a new beginning and every obstacle mastered as fuel for the next stage of our growth.

Caring is a superpower

We truly deeply care about our students and our larger audience of warriors. We want to understand their feelings, goals, fears, and dreams so we can support them in ways that are helpful and life-changing.
