She Let Herself Go

she let herself go - image of back of a figure standing in front of the ocean, with hands pressed together above the figure's head

She let herself go. But from what?

From rules? From self-hatred? From addiction?

From shrinking herself? From being silent? From society’s chains?

From striving for perfection? From judgments?

From internalizing constant harmful messages? From adhering to the norm?

From accepting her “place”? From being oppressed?

From “shoulds”? From self-destruction? From believing she needs to be who everyone tells her she should?

From merely existing instead of living?

From killing herself through over-exertion? From believing she’s never enough?

“She let herself go”

From what?

She let herself go

Yeah, and it looks beautiful on her.
