A Poem: Reminders & Choices

Reminders

You try to whisper
You still call
Worst of all
There are things that I’ve ripped

Burned and buried

That still remind me

Heavy eyes and heartbreak

They are gone

Yet I dress and breathe deep
As if preparing
Body for battle

Reminders

To surrender
Breathe body in
Ignore your calls

Choices
